D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation convened its 42nd Session of the Commission and the last session of the Commission under Turkey’s chairmanship from 09-10 October, 2019 in Istanbul Turkey.
The meeting was chaired by the D-8 Commissioner and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey H.E Ambassador Faruk Kaymakci and co-chaired by the Alternate Commissioner of Turkey, Ambassador Omer Gucuk.

The D-8 Commission is one of the principal organs and decision-making bodies of the Organization. The 42nd Session of the D-8 Commission extensively discussed issues and matters related to the current and future activities of the Organization.

The most important outcome of the 42nd Commission meeting was that the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the next chair of the Organization announced its preparedness to host the 19th Council of Ministers meeting and the 10th D-8 Summit in first half of 2020.

The Secretary-General has explained his efforts at implementing the Istanbul Plan of Action 2017 and the vision set by the D-8 Leaders and also presented a report on the activities of the Organization. The D-8 Commissioners praised the efforts of the Secretary General and assured him of their full support.
Furthermore, the Secretary-General expressed his immense gratitude to Republic of Turkey for its competent handling of the affairs of the Organization over the last two years. He also mentioned that so much has been accomplished during the country’s tenure and looking forward to the continuation of these accomplishments under the upcoming chairmanship of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
