Bangladesh Launched IT Connect Portal Netherlands to attract investment

Dhaka, January 8, 2022 (BSS);

      Today, the government launched a virtual desk, the Bangladesh IT Connect Portal Netherlands, at the Bangladesh Embassy in the Netherlands, gathering investors and partners, considering Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

      Connecting to Digital Platforms, ICT Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak has opened the Bangladesh IT connect Portal Netherlands, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and the Embassy take chances for doing the best trades. This movement will be an opportunity to attract business, investment from the Netherlands by connecting IT companies in both countries.

       As part of the event, a discussion entitled “Bangladesh: Building a Digital Economic Partnership” was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the friendship between Bangladesh and the Netherlands.

       Riaz Hamidullah, the Dutch ambassador of the Embassy of Bangladesh, will host the event. Kabir Siraj, Royal Dutch Shell Program Manager, Maarteen Roelofs, Founder of Amsterdam-based Planet Nine and Uber Amsterdam, the head of the innovation product portfolio were in attendance.

       At this event, ITITES expert Sami Ahmed presented a PowerPoint presentation on “Bangladesh IT Connect Portal Holland, regarding features which were related to technology transfer and exchange network (D8tten). Parak said the government has established the Sheikh Hasina Frontier Technology Institute (SHIFT), the Fourth Industrial Revolution Center (4IR), and the Digital Leadership Academy to build an innovation ecosystem to address 4IR.

     “We will also establish 35,000 Sheikh Russel Digital Labs and 300 future schools and play an important role in developing skilled 4IR talent,” he added.

      ICT Minister said the Netherlands is one of Bangladesh's major trade and investment partners in many sectors, and the virtual desk announced today will support partnerships and cooperation in trade and investment in the ICT sector.

      Bangladesh has developed an ICT infrastructure including 39 HiTech / IT parks for investors to build a digital economy. Many domestic and foreign companies have already built 10 HiTech / IT parks and IT incubation centers.

     ICT Minister said Bangladesh IT Connect Portal Netherlands will help Bangladesh and the Netherlands explore a wider area of ​​collaboration and cooperation in the technology transfer and exchange network (D8tten). It also helps the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector and the digital economy of both countries.

    Over 70 IT exporters from Bangladesh have already uploaded profiles that are already functioning in the Netherlands or see the Netherlands as a potential and profitable market.
