Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian technology company Gojek underscored several focus areas and strategies for the year 2021, starting from digitizing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to investing in technology and human resources (HR) in that field.

Gojek Co-CEO Kevin Aluwi highlighted that digitalization support and the growth of MSMEs in Indonesia and Southeast Asia was based on the close role between MSMEs and Gojek, especially through the GoFood services and during the pandemic that encouraged MSMEs to be digitalized.

“The role of MSMEs cannot be separated from the Gojek ecosystem. During the pandemic, GoFood merchants grew 80 percent to reach 900 thousand, from 500 thousand in 2019,” Kevin stated through an online conference “10 Years of Gojek” on Thursday.

He also added: “This significant growth is driven by the digitization of MSMEs during the pandemic, and we are optimistic that this would become a positive trend in the long term, which is inclusive and comprehensive to maintain business stability and be responsive to changes in the people’s lifestyles.”

The commitment to support the digitization of MSMEs is marked by the presence of a one-stop-solution service that can be availed by MSME players to facilitate their digital services and transactions.

In addition to MSMEs, Gojek focuses on investing in technology and human resources to enhance increasing performance and user experience.

One of the strategic investments that Gojek will make in 2020 is to integrate the Gojek application globally in Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand. The CEO of Gojek mentioned it as a strategic step to strengthen the Gojek brand in the international market, in addition to providing flexibility to accelerate the development of services in Guzek’s workplace countries.

He stated that: ” The integration of the Gojek plan will bring global market access to customers in Southeast Asia, and this plan could also accelerate automation in Southeast Asia

Supported by the ride-hailing platform clocking a gross transaction value (GTV) of US$12 billion (some Rp170 trillion), a 10-percent increase from last year.

This achievement is reached through the transactions of active Gojek users and reached 38 million people across Southeast Asia.
