A delegation headed by the Chairman of International Trade and Cooperation Commission of Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MUSIAD), Mr. Mehmet Zeki Guvercin, paid a courtesy call to the Secretary-General of the D-8 on 5th September, 2019 at the D-8 Secretariat in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Secretary-General welcomed the MUSIAD to the Secretariat and
exchanged pleasantries with them. Fruitful discussions were held during
the meeting.
The representatives of MUSIAD gave a comprehensive briefing on their
activities and expressed their desire to develop close working
relationship and wide spectra of cooperation with the D-8 Organization
for Economic Cooperation. The Secretary-General expressed gratitude for
their visit and said that he shares the same thoughts with them
regarding the need for cooperation between their two Organizations.
MUSIAD is an active and formidable non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides platform for development-dialogue cooperation and solidarity created for the purpose of contributing to the social, cultural, political, economic, scientific and technological development of individuals and institutions, society, region and the world as whole.
D-8 and MUSIAD have many commonalities. Both Organizations are playing an important role in enhancing economic cooperation in the Islamic World as all D-8 Countries are part of the Islamic world and the Members of MUSIAD too.
As agreed at the meeting, MUSAID and D-8 will assign focal points for further discussions and come up with a mechanism for future joint activities, workshops and projects.
