In his speech, Minister Nasir said the national standardization must abide with the national standard, which could be very important to ensure that Indonesian products get national standard.
“Therefore, the construction of SNSU laboratory has to be the barometer. Hopefully things will get better and we can compete with other countries,” said Nasir.
Minister Nasir said he hoped the SNSU laboratory could serve as the center for measurement in Indonesia. The construction is based on the Law No. 20/2014 on Standardization and Comparability Measurement. This facility will greatly benefit the development of SNSU in Indonesia.
“When the construction is finally done, hopefully the laboratory could be used by every sector. So, we no longer have to go abroad,” said Nasir.
Bambang Prasetya, the BSN head, said the construction of the SNSU laboratory was important in the development of SNSU in Indonesia.
“SNSU is the country’s most accurate standard which is then used for traceability basis for international measurement system. This function puts SNSU in a central position in the national metrology system,” said Bambang.
Bambang also said the level of accreditation must have a measurement standard. This is why the laboratory is important for health sector. This laboratory is expected to support the health sector.
Bambang said metrology, along with standardization component and comparability measurement, formed the national quality infrastructure. Moreover, the scientific world highly depends on measurement.
